Amazingly, actress Chitrangada Singh has preferred her mentor Sudhir Mishra's new film to that of Southern star Kamal Hassan. The latter was looking to cast her in his next. This is all the more significant in the wake of reports that Mishra is upset with the actress for stepping into mainstream films. Besides, Mishra had encouraged Chitrangada to accept Hassan's offer of a special role in the latter’s Hindi-Tamil bi-lingual ‘Vishwaroopam’. The actress begged off Hasan’s offer since his shooting schedule clashed with that of Mishra's untitled film also starring Arjun Rampal. Chitra says that she loved her role, but Hasan wanted immediate dates to meet the New Year’s deadline. So, she couldn’t help. This is another matter that Sudhir had agreed to change his shooting schedule to adjust Chitra’s dates with Hasan’s. When asked about her decision to go with Mishra's film, Chitrangda said it was a dream come true for her and she took all her willpower to decline the offer. It clashed with Sudhir's (Mishra) film. So she had to say no.
To another query about reports that Sudhir was miffed with her efforts to embrace mainstream cinema, Chitrangda retorted that Sudhir himself is doing just that. He is trying to bring the language of his cinema closer to the mainstream language. She said that they succeeded to a large extent in bridging that gap with ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’, which is his most commercially successful film. It wasn't ‘Desi Boyz’ in terms of budget, prints and reach. Now, they are doing the untitled film with Arjun Rampal, which is even more mainstream, and then ‘Mehrunissa’, which is Sudhir's biggest film to date, she further said.
