Dia Mirza - she's an angelic beauty. She opens up as she speaks about heart break, her link-ups and how she is completely in love with the man in her life right now.
Dia, you look lovely and glowing. Are you in love?
Yes, I'm happy. I'm in love; I'm in love with everything I'm doing and my existence. I think that's so important because it contributes to everything.
When was the last time you had your heart broken?
Five years ago. I didn't expect it to break. I think that's what really hurt more than anything else. I believed that the relationship was perfect, that it would go the distance and I had dreams of marriage and children. You know how girls can be stupid, wearing rose-tinted glasses! When the relationship ended I didn't have a head's up because nothing had gone wrong. One day I was told it's over when I wasn't expecting it. That's what was most difficult getting over; when it hits you out of nowhere and you don't even get a valid reason for it not working out. But I think that's the price you pay for dating an actor, which is why I will never date an actor. I've dated only one actor and I won't again.
You want to name the person?
Well, the least I can say is he was very handsome, still is. And somebody whom I absolutely adored and still do.
You've also been linked to Arshad Warsi during Hum, Tum Aur Ghost and apparently his wife Maria Goretti was very upset?
It's amusing how every time a film is releasing, the lead actors get linked together. People don't quite understand that a man and a woman can genuinely be good friends. I heard there was even an article about Zayed Khan and me having a torrid affair and that he was getting a divorce. Malaika and I had a big laugh about it. He and I are best friends - I pull his hair, whack him and run, we are like school children around each other, so if someone imagines an intimacy we don't have, that's really their problem.
And now you're in a relationship with director Sahil Sangha. How long have you been dating?
Sahil and I are in a very committed relationship, and the funny thing is we were together even when I was linked to Arshad. Sahil, Malaika, Zayed and I were laughing when we heard of the story linking Zayed and me too. There's no point getting agitated about it. We've been dating over for three years now. My dad's theory is going to kick in; he said the only way you can know if you can spend the rest of your life with a man is if you've survived three years with him. In the first year, he's at his best behaviour. In the second year, his true shades start coming out, and if you've survived the third year, you know you can go the distance. The thing with Sahil is that in the very first year itself I knew that we would go the distance. He's very grounded, clear and dependable.
Any talk of any commitment, any ring?
He hasn't given me one yet, but he doesn't need to. Yes, I'd like one, one day; but right now there's no ring and there's no talk of a wedding date, but we know we'll get married to each other. I don't know when, but we will.
