There's much talk about who all are representingParis Hilton in India, and have or have not approached Kangna for an endorsement - while the ones who have no clue about all the fuss here in India are Paris' own reps!
Paris Hilton's first touchdown in India was bound to create ripples - but her name is making waves even before her arrival. A few weeks ago, B-Town hottie Kangna Ranaut said that she had been approached to endorse Paris Hilton's line in India. Later, a PR from an event company saying they were Paris' India representatives rubbished Kangna's claims, and rubbed in the point embarrassingly with a curt, "Paris does not need a face to represent her anywhere in the world," and alleged that Kangna was using Paris' name for "cheap publicity". The plot thickened when Kangna's ex-beau Adhyayan Suman said that he had introduced the actress to "good friend" Paris Hilton in Dubai, but Kangna, on her part, denied ever meeting Paris and said that the talks of being the face of her fashion line had taken place through representatives on both sides, but they did not materialise.
But now, the egg seems to be on the face of the offended party as the PR agency who denied that Paris had ever approached Kangna, has been disowned by the international socialite's official spokesperson! Confusing? You bet it is.
When DT tried to make sense of the situation and contacted Paris Hilton's official spokesperson inLos Angeles, Dawn Miller, this is what we learnt. Miller was first forwarded an e-mail from Pragya Narang, the senior partner and public relations head of Creme Talent Management, in which she had said, "Paris is a global mega star and is extremely miffed at these false, fabricated and bogus reports that Ms Kangna Ranaut is all set to be the face of her fashion line in India. Paris does not need a face to represent her, anywhere in the world. As per Ms Geetika's (Kangna's publicist's) claims of receiving a business query from an international fashion brand, Kangna or her representatives are in no position to name Paris Hilton Fashions as the brand in question, because they are well aware that Kangna was never approached or offered such a deal from Paris. As for Kangna's claim that she has never met Paris, we still stand by our earlier statement that Kangna has indeed met Paris in Dubai, courtesy Paris's close friendship with her ex-boyfriend and actor Adhyayan Suman. When they were dating, Adhyayan introduced her to the biggest names from the world of film and fashion, including his friend, Paris. Paris does not even remember meeting Kangna, let alone making her the face of her brand in India. She is contemplating taking legal action against Ms Kangna Ranaut for using her name for cheap publicity."
To this, Miller told DT, "On behalf of Paris Hilton and Paris Hilton Entertainment, I can confirm that we are unaware of any of the reported events currently in the press in India. Only Paris Hilton Entertainment is authorised to make business deals and represent Paris Hilton in India. Please direct any future inquiries to Paris Hilton Entertainment for confirmation. Closer to the date of the trip, we will issue an official press release to provide more information. Paris Hilton looks forward to her first visit to India."
On being asked if there had been any talks about Kangna being approached, Miller replied, "We are unaware of any of such discussions."
When Narang was told about Miller's comment about her not having the official stamp to represent Paris, she said, "This is surprising. I was asked to handle Paris's business queries in India by Jamie Freed. I will get back to Jamie on this. I have never interacted with Dawn Miller."
Jamie who? He is Paris Hilton's manager, apparently. But when we got back to Dawn Miller asking if Freed could have been in touch with Pragya Narang, Dawn reiterated, "No. I speak on behalf of Paris Hilton Entertainment and Jamie Freed." He said, she said? For now, it's only 'They all said, boo!'
