The recent bomb blasts in the city has made me think and wonder why Mumbai is the target for repeated terror attacks. Why innocent people living a normal life have to die for no fault of their own? We talk about the spirit of Mumbai and how people even after the day of the bomb blasts chose to go back to their offices. It’s not just resilience but their need to earn a living that forces them to step out at the risk of something like this happening again. While the government is helpless the people have no one to safeguard their lives. Influx of people in the city cannot be cited as an example for intelligence failure. Look at places like Thailand and Singapore which are tourists spots but you hardly see them being attacked every second day. Three blasts in an hours time is a serious security flaw. As an individual I have to think twice when I am travelling in the city, watching my back at all times. This feeling of insecurity and helplessness needs to be addressed at the earliest. There was a point in time when Mumbai was safe, the spirit is still alive but the blasts have left a mark on everyone's minds and hearts.
