Last year, Prakash Jha wanted to hold a discussion with students in DU about politics to promote 'Rajneeti', but Delhi Police didn't give the team permission to make an appearance on campus.
Two weeks ago, Jha was denied permission by Lucknow University to hold a discussion about the issue of reservation in education, between Amitabh Bachchan and students, for his latest film, "Aarakshan".
Now, Jha wants to bring the film's cast - Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik - to Hindu College on August 5, if the Delhi Police permits, that is. The actors will address the students on the issues of reservation and commercialisation of education. Pradyumn Kumar, vice president of Hindu, confirmed, "We've spoken to them and have expressed our willingness. Their aim is to have a discussion with the students about commercialisation of higher education and reservation, and since both Praksh Jha and Manoj Bajpayee are from DU, they understand the relevance of the subject in campus. But since such big names are coming, especially Mr Bachchan, we asked them to sort out security issues first.
While Jha and Bajpayee are Ramjas alumni, other Hindu alumni also have plans. Manish Tiwary, who shot "Dil, Dosti, Etc" in Hindu, is auditioning for the female lead for his next film in Hindu. And Imtiaz Ali may come in August to promote "Rockstar" there.
