Permission granted to Prakash Jha

Even though Delhi Police didn't grant him permission to hold a debate with students at the University of Delhi, director Prakash Jha has kept his promise and was expected to interact with the students yesterday, albeit at a different venue.

In the wake of their permission getting cancelled at the last minute, Jha's team had finalized the India Islamic Cultural Centre at Lodhi Road, and students from various DU colleges had been invited for an informal discussion with Jha and the cast.

A day before the interaction, Alankrita Shrivastava from Jha's team said, "We are expecting the whole cast for the interaction tomorrow, including Mr Jha, Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali KhanDeepika Padukone, Prateik and Manoj Bajpayee. Since the police didn't give us permission for holding the talk at DU, we had to change our venue at the last moment. They didn't want us to do it at any academic institution due to security concerns. Initially, we had booked the NCUI auditorium opposite Siri Fort but even they called to cancel it. That's when we finalized the India Islamic Cultural Centre as the venue. There'll be an informal discussion, and to ensure that security doesn't become a problem, we have only invited about 300 students for this afternoon session. Not everyone can come in. We've approached specific colleges and departments, and students with invites only can come. For instance, we have invited 60 students from LSR's journalism department. But I am not sure if students from north campus would be coming."

While the team promotes the movie in Delhi this weekend, we also hear that a special screening request has come to Jha's office. Manya Patil Seth, wife of Chetan Seth and Smita Patil's sister, has requested the director for a special screening of the movie in Delhi, since her nephew Prateik is acting in it. Initial talks have taken place, and the screening might be taking place soon.
